Jammu, Jan 07 (KNO): Amid Prime Minister’s security breach row, Congress has postponed Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's rally that was to be held in Jammu on January 9 citing the situation arising out of Covid-19 and inclement weather. Channi’s scheduled rally was planned to give impetus to Congress activities in Jammu and Kashmir. As per the schedule, Channi was to address the workers at Bhor Camp Stadium in Jammu district during the one-day tour. However, the rally was postponed citing the situation arising out of Corona and bad weather. The preparations of the State Congress were in full swing to make Channi's rally a success in Jammu but after postponement a new date of Channi's rally will be decided later. Congress Chief Spokesperson Ravindra Sharma confirmed that Channi's rally would not be held in Jammu on January 9. “The date of the rally was not final yet. With this, keeping in mind the increasing Corona cases and harsh weather, which is predicted till January 9, it has been decided not to conduct the scheduled rally,” Sharma told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Sharma said that Congress high command also instructed all units to refrain from organizing big programs after the situation arising out of Corona. On the other hand, BJP's anger is also erupting in Jammu and Kashmir over the negligence in security during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab. Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP also protested against the Channi government when the Prime Minister's convoy was stopped by the protesters in Ferozepur. The series of demonstrations also continue on Friday as well—(KNO)
